I joined Young Living on September 27, 2017. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought I was just purchasing a membership to have access to essential oils to support things about my health that I didn’t like and that was it. I was so wrong. I had no idea about the rest of the products they sold. Personal Care. Infant and Children Products. Nutritional Products. Make Up. Men’s Products. Animal Products, the list goes on. I order a few things each month and little by little I’m reading, learning from others and eliminating products in my home and products that I put on my body that are loaded with scary chemicals. I feel better for it and I want to lead you to the same kind of lifestyle; and investment in your health.  Young Living has supported my health in ways that I never imagined. Give it a try.

Healthier Options

Ningxia Red is loaded with superfoods and powerful antioxidants to support energy and wellness. I’ve eliminated my lunchtime caffeine boost of cola and selected a healthier choice. It’s a huge step for me. I’ve grown dependent on the lunchtime caffeine boost because I get up so early and often have out of the house kid obligations in the evening. My body needs the healthier stuff more than the cola though. I’ve also had to make some dietary changes to support a sensitive upper GI tract. Caffeine is a Gastrointestinal irritant. While I’m not ready to give up my morning coffee, this is a good start. It’s been several shifts since I’ve made the switch and I don’t miss the cola as much as I thought.

If you aren’t sure about an Essential Oils Premium Starter Kit, why not try a NingXia Red Premium Starter Kit? Interested in joining Young Living and taking advantage of these wonderful products? Emotional Oils 2

Emotional oils are by far my favorite type of Essential Oils. I am so grateful for the sense of well-being that they give me. I feel what my body needs on a given day and I use the appropriate oils.

I’m shutting it down early tonight. I’m coming off a six day in a row stretch of work. I worked my 4 day work week, did one 8 hour training class and today picked up an on call shift. I’m calling in dead now. Too many days in a row of playing nurse; I’m enjoying my evening at home with my family, my dog and a new book and the idea of not getting up at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow. Tonight I’m diffusing RC to keep the snoring at bay, Inner child to reconnect with my inner self and Lavender for relaxation.

Emotional Oils Part 1

Release and White Angelica. I enjoy using this combination of emotional oils. Release is applied in the right upper quadrant of the abdominal area, where the liver resides, behind the ears and on the bottom of feet. It supports emotional well being by helping us let go of negative emotions.

White Angelica helps to neutralize negative energy and helps us feel strong and secure. It also helps us to feel whole.

I first started using these two together a few months ago during a difficult time and it has really made a difference for me on bla days. I also apply it when I am around people who have negative outlooks or I anticipate my inner strength and peace being tested in some way.

Emotional health and support are as equally important as supporting physical areas of your body. Life is messy.

Let’s Talk Roll Ons

Let’s talk roll-ons. I love everything about them. They are already blended and ready to go. Put them in your purse or put them in your pocket. Whip them out when you need to. It’s that simple.

I use Breathe Again in the winter when the cold weather does a number on my asthma. Deep Relief is a quick and easy way to help neck stiffness with some good neck stretches. I always have either Valor or Tranquil in my scrub pockets at work. I have all but the Stress Away.

Copaiba

So many oils, so many favorites. This is Copaiba. It’s a member of the Premium Starter Kit. Pronounced Cope eye iba.

When I first opened my Premium Starter Kit, I had a general idea of the uses for some of the oils but I had no idea what to do with Copaiba, much less how to pronounce it. So it sat for awhile until I figured out what to do with it.

From a fellow Oily person I learned that you can mix Copaiba with other oils when you are making your own blend say in a roll on because it enhances the effects of the other oils. After that, I use it as much as I can.

For example in my Muscle Support post, you’ll see that I have Ortho Ease, Peppermint and Pan Away oils, I added Copaiba because it enhances the effects of the Peppermint, Pan Away and the oils that are in Ortho Ease. This is probably my favorite property of Copaiba.

So what else can we use Copaiba for?

Copaiba has powerful Anti-Inflammatory properties, anything with “itis” behind it, making it extremely helpful with muscle, bones and joint support. Muscle spasms, muscle cramps, joint stiffness, muscles that need extra attention after work outs or strenuous activities.

It helps supports the Respiratory System with things like sinusitis and bronchitis. Recently, I learned from a fellow Oily guy that it supports sinuses. I’ve had bad allergies all my life. Animals, dust, environmental, seasonal, you name it. I have to pre-medicate when I go to someone’s house who has lots of pets or if I see a layer of pollen on the cars that is an inch thick. I’ll never go without allergy medicine but recently I learned from another Oily that you can put it on your sinuses to support congestion and inflammation. I’ve used it twice this week in conjunction with my allergy medication and I was relieved that they symptoms seemed to go away faster than if I’d waited for my allergy pill to kick in.

It helps support the skin and can be used to support bruises, rashes, bug bites, acne. You can even mix it in your shampoo to help out with Dandruff caused by dry scalp.

Moral of the story, don’t underestimate an oil just because it has a funny name and you’ve never heard of it. This one is a gem. It’s one you’ll never want to run out of.

Tea Tree Oil

I am volunteering as a nurse this week for my daughter’s high school marching band. We are at an away camp in the country so the band can bond, get down to business and learn their show. The camp is rustic and everything you’d imagine an away camp to be: scary food, acres of old cabins, trees and plenty of bugs to go around.

Of course as the suburbia dwellers that we are, we bring every spray known to man, bug spray and sunscreen. I refuse to put either of those on my body much less be present when it is sprayed into the atmosphere.

In the year since I’ve been here, I’ve become oily and I am on a mission to remove as many toxicities from my life as possible. Bug spray is right up there. I hate the smell and the way it feels on my skin and I don’t even want to think about the chemicals it contains.

This year I brought Tea Tree Oil to combat bugs. I simply put some Tea Tree Oil on my arms and legs, my neck and temples. The bugs approach me and quickly leave. I’m pleased.

In addition to keeping bugs away, Tea Tree Oil has many other benefits. It has Antifungal, Antiseptic, Antimicrobial, Antiviral and Anti-inflammatory properties. It supports itching from hives and rashes. It supports inflammation from ear infections and herpes virus. You can mix it in your shampoo to wash your hair and rinse it out to help a dry scalp. You can mix lavender and tea tree oils to combat head lice. These are only a few of the many things Tea Tree Oil supports.

If you are looking for a natural alternative to bug spray the next time you are out in the woods, I’d highly recommend this.
